VonThun’s Country Farm Market
Open June – October
Weekdays: 10 am to 6:30 pm, Weekends: 9 am to 6 pm
VonThun’s Country Farm Market opened in 1986. The little farm market, housed in a barn, was the only outlet for fresh fruits and vegetables that were grown on the farm. As the years passed, the market was expanded and redesigned. Although Jersey Fresh, homegrown fruits and vegetables are still sold in the farm market, the farm has diversified, and the farm market has become the “home base” for all sales (both retail and wholesale), pick your own, festivals, tours, and other farm activities.
Although we pride ourselves in our homegrown sweet corn and Jersey tomatoes, there are dozens of other fruits and vegetables that we grow and sell in the farm market! Our Homegrown Produce Availability Chart outlines approximate availabilities of the crops we grow.
Early in the spring, we plant sweet corn under plastic. The plastic protects the seeds and seedlings from cold and frost during their early stages while their growth is still young and tender. The plastic also warms the soil, helping the plants to grow at a quicker rate. Our goal through this process, is to have homegrown sweet corn in early July.
Our homegrown sweet corn is picked fresh each morning,
which enables you to have the freshest corn around!
Other fresh, homegrown produce is available in the market as the crops ripen and mature. Also available in the farm market are our very own VonThun Farms jams and jellies and Pennsylvania Dutch old fashioned candy.
Throughout the fall season at the Farm Market, you can find delicious fruit pies, apple cider, candy apples, and
in-season homegrown produce. Colorful hardy field mums, assorted gourds, jack-o-lantern pumpkins, corn stalks, scarecrows, and all your other fall decorating favorites are also available!
Stop by this season with the kids to visit with the farm animals … and be sure to stop in the market for some of the area’s finest Jersey Fresh sweet corn and homegrown produce!
