Kids’ Day at the Farm

Flowers make great Mother's Day gifts!

This fun-filled event is  traditionally held the Saturday before Mother’s Day with flowering Mother’s Day gifts available and lots of activities for the kids.  Our greenhouses are open with thousands of flowering Mother’s Day gifts as well as our everyday selection of annuals, perennials, vegetables, herbs and hanging baskets.

Activities:
Each child is given a farm coloring book, a magnet and a flower topot and take home for Mom!

Additional ActivitiesPurchase tickets  for only those activities you choose to participate in.  Pony rides, straw maze, pedal courses, sand art, rubber duck races, paint a pot and additional activities that may vary with the weather.

Apple Fest Weekend

Apple Picking…Pick-Your-Own Apples…U-Pick…No matter how you phrase it, this is THE weekend to visit the orchard and find those perfect apples just for you! We can’t promise that all our apple varieties will be ready to pick, but we can promise that there will be lots of delicious, homegrown apples on the trees–because this is the start of our VonThun Farms Pick-Your-Own Apple season!!  Only started in 2010, Apple Fest Weekend is still in it’s growing stages.  It is nothing to compare to our annual Fall Festival…but come on out and join us for the day. You won’t be disappointed…most of our annual fall activities will be available, and you’ll have a little more of the farm to yourself…the crowds start coming a little later in the season!  Some vendors will also be joining us.

Rutgers Weekend

Even the Scarlet Knight enjoys a little down home country fun every now & then!

Enjoy MAiZE discounts this weekend.  Wear a RU t-shirt…and get $1 off your MAiZE admission.  Wear a RU hat, and receive another $1 off.  Show your staff, student, or alumni ID card…and guess what!  Yup…save $1 off your Rutgers Football Corn MAiZE admission!  WHOO HOO!!! GO RU!!!!  Stroll through our 2nd Rutgers Football Corn MAiZE and entertain yourself with the many interactive activities it has to offer…you’ll be lost, laughin’ and lovin’ it!!

Fall Festival

Fall Festival
The highlight of the year is our annual Fall Festival. Held on Saturday and Sunday of Columbus Day weekend, October 10 & 11, 2009, the festival proves to be an exciting adventure for all with something for everyone!
On both Saturday and Sunday, hayrides to the pick your own pumpkin field and all activities start at 10:00 am and end by 5:00 pm. Activities include pony rides, petting zoo, corn maze, straw maze, pedal course, face painting, sand art, candy art, games, inflatable moon bounce, vendors, food, crafters and more. Tickets may be purchased for these activities at our ticket booth.
Country music by Nashville Attitude sets the tone for an enjoyable afternoon along with our other free activities including goat milking demonstrations, clown shows, straw jump, activity tent contests, and a visit with our special costumed guest. Free crafts for the kids can also be done at the Activity Tent. Antique farm tractors and equipment are on display. The Middlesex County Sheriff’s Department is usually available to fingerprint children, and often brings a member of their canine unit along for the weekend. The South Brunswick S.A.F.E. program is there to educate children about drugs. The Middlesex County Improvement Authority brings McBlue (their talking robot) to the farm to enhance it’s recycling program. Make sure to visit Peter the Talking Pumpkin and our Ag Center, both educational stops as you tour the farm. Door prizes are also given throughout the day.
Our farm market is opened throughout the weekend. Delicious farm fruit pies, apple cider, candy apples, jams, jellies, and assorted baked goods are also available in the market.
Admission is charged this weekend only.

Animal rescues, crafts, and vendors.  Handmade balloon animals for the kids (get here early…Jason is only here until 5 pm, and his fingers can only do so much balloon tyin’!).  Clown and puppet shows, juggling, and stilt walking. South Brunswick Lions Club Pig Roast Weekend

The South Brunswick Lions Club will be joining us for their annual Pig Roast.  Each year, the Lions Club offer delicious pork bbq sandwiches, that melt in your mouth!  Come on’ out this weekend for some down home country fun, and support our local Lions Club while you do!

ONE BIG YARD SALE….ALL WEEKEND LONG!!  Vendors rent space to sell their wares.  Remember…one person’s junk is another person’s treasure!  Join us for this fun weekend that is sure to offer a flea market atmosphere.  Visit as an individual looking for that ‘Hidden Treasure’…or as a vendor.  Clean out those closets, find your re-gifting items, and all your unneeded clutter…and come on out to the farm to make a little extra cash!  This is a great opportunity for youth groups and non-profits to do a little fundraising too!

Moonlight Corn MAiZE

Walk the path in the dark...there's a silence like no other!

When:  October 26 & 27, 2012      (6 pm-10pm)
Admission: $8 per person, ages 3 & under Free.

Imagine entering a 5+ acre Corn MAiZE in the dark, and having nothing to help you find your way out, other than a little moonlight! It’s challenging….and it’s AWESOME!!  This year’s corn MAiZE will challenge the wits of those seeking to find the one exit from this mind-boggling puzzle –  a unique source of good farmin’ fun for adults and children alike!

Trunk or Treat Halloween Weekend

Kids trick or treat, getting candy from our Trunk or Treat vendors.  Our vendors provide the candy, along with promotional materials for their business. Kids are welcome to come in costumes if they want.
